Here are possible reasons behind foot arthritis, courtesy of the American Podiatric Medical Association:
- Foot injuries, particularly if they were not treated properly.
- Viral or bacterial infections that affect the joints.
- Inflammatory bowel disease.
- Prescribed medications or use of illegal drugs.
- An autoimmune disease.
