Eating a rainbow of fruit and vegetables helps ensure that you’re getting a healthy variety of nutrients.
The American Heart Association suggests:
- Adding bright, colorful produce to every meal and snack.
- Looking at your plate before eating. If it’s too plain, add colorful fruits and vegetables.
- Adding chopped frozen veggies to pasta, rice and macaroni and cheese.
- Starting slowly by adding one color. Then gradually increase the number of colorful fruits and vegetables.
