If you want to lower your risk of getting Lyme disease, keeping ticks away is your best bet.
Lymedisease.org offers these suggestions for reducing the tick population near your home:
- Prune trees.
- Clear brush.
- Remove litter.
- Mow grass short, and let it dry thoroughly between waterings.
- Get rid of birdfeeders and birdbaths.
- Clear away woodpiles and leaf piles.
- Remove stone walls that offer homes to small wildlife.
