Ladder Recall Follows Reports of Falls, Head Injuries and Broken Bones

More than 122,000 ladders sold at Home Depot are being recalled because their locking mechanism can fail, putting users at risk of a fall.

The affected ladders are 20- and 24-foot Multi-Max Pro models sold between November 2021 and February 2024.

The manufacturer, WernerCo of Itasca, Ill., said owners should stop using the ladders immediately and register online for a full refund.

As of Thursday, the company had received 18 reports of falls and 14 reports of injuries, including bruises, cuts, broken bones and head injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC).

The defective multi-purpose ladders’ locking mechanism can jam and not fully lock into place, the company said.

The recalled ladders are silver with a blue top and blue label on the side rail, with a long black rope in the back section. The label contains the word “Werner” next to the words “MULTI MAX PRO” along with the size and model number:

• ALMP-20IAA

• ALMP-24IAA

They were sold in HomeDepot stores and online at HomeDepot.com. Their prices ranged, on average, from $200 to $281.

Consumers who think they have one of the recalled ladders should call Werner at 888-624-1907 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. EDT or send email to: ladder@realtimeresults.net for more information.

To obtain details on how to dispose of the recalled ladder, consumers should register at www.wernerco.com/recalls. The company will issue a full refund once disposal is complete.

Models ALMP-16IAA and ALMP-18IAA Multi-Max Pro Ladders sold now have a different design and are not part of the recall, Werner said.
