By LadyLively on January 14, 2015
Have you noticed that some of your toenails are dark and discolored?
The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons says possible causes of dark toenails include:
- A trauma to the nail. An example would be an object falling on the nail, causing formation of a bruise.
- Though rare, a dark toenail can signal malignant melanoma.
- A fungal infection of the nail.
- A chronically ingrown nail.
