The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mentions these possible examples:

  • Increased likelihood of high blood pressure, liver disease, heart disease and stroke.
  • Increased risk of certain cancers, including those of the esophagus, throat, mouth, breast, liver and colon.
  • Reduced performance in school, and increased likelihood of dementia and other problems with memory and learning.
  • Increased risk of anxiety and depression.
  • Increased risk of alcohol dependency.
