Health Tip: Opt for Alternatives to Soda
By LadyLively on August 6, 2015
Soda lovers should seek healthier alternatives to save on calories and sugar.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest mentions these substitutions:
- Water should be the primary drink offered with snacks for children. It’s calorie-free and sugar-free, and keeps kids hydrated.
- Carbonated seltzer water also makes a nice alternative. Kids are sure to like it mixed with 100 percent fruit juice.
- Low-fat or fat-free milk includes calcium, but stick to plain and avoid chocolate- and strawberry-flavored milks, which are higher in sugar.
- Consider soy or rice-based milk alternatives.
