Parents are wise to be concerned about keeping kids at a healthy weight.
Besides making sure kids eat a healthy diet, the American Academy of Pediatrics says you also should:
- Make sure children get plenty of sleep. Establish a consistent bedtime routine.
- Restrict screen time to a maximum of two hours per day, allowing more time for play and physical activity.
- Talk with college-age children about maintaining healthy habits at school.
- Offer your child praise and recognition for healthy behavior.
