Astigmatism occurs when the eye’s cornea becomes abnormally shaped, causing blurry vision.
The American Optometric Association suggests these ways to manage the condition:
- Wearing eyeglasses.
- Wearing contact lenses.
- Undergoing orthokeratology, in which gas-permeable contact lenses are fitted to the eye, to reshape it over time.
- Reshaping the cornea surgically.
