Gum disease develops when the tissues surrounding your teeth become inflamed, often due to infection. The condition may lead to tooth loss.
The American Dental Association mentions these possible warning signs:
- Gums that bleed easily.
- Gums that are tender and may be red or swollen.
- Gums that recede from the teeth.
- Bad taste in the mouth, or bad breath.
- Teeth that feel loose.
- Dentures that no longer fit the gumline.
