Health Tip: Warding Off the Flu When You Have Asthma

People with asthma are at greater risk of flu-related complications. So what can they do?
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America advises:
- Get the annual flu shot. Opt for the shot rather than the nasal spray.
- Encourage everyone in the family to get the flu shot, to help protect the person with asthma.
- Wash your hands frequently and stay away from people who are sick. Don’t share food, drinks or utensils.
- Call your doctor right away if you develop flu symptoms, such as fever, cough, chills, sore throat, headache or fatigue.
