High blood pressure is quite common, but is often undiagnosed.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains:
- High blood pressure isn’t just a problem for seniors. It’s also becoming more common in young people.
- Since the condition rarely causes symptoms, you may have high blood pressure even if you feel fine.
- Minority women are at greatest risk of developing high blood pressure and its complications.
- High blood pressure raises a person’s risk of stroke and heart attack.
- Some research shows high blood pressure can raise the risk of dementia later in life.
