U.S. Supreme Court to Announce Ruling on Texas Abortion Law
A ruling on a controversial Texas abortion law will be announced Monday morning by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Abortion clinics are challenging what they call the most restrictive abortion law in the nation. Critics say if the law is upheld, all but a few abortion clinics in the state could close, CNN reported.
The law requires doctors who perform abortions to have local admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and for clinics to have hospital-like standards.
The law was upheld by a federal appeals court in 2015, but last spring a majority of the Supreme Court voted to stay that ruling pending appeal, CNN reported.
