Health Tip: Preventing Food Allergies While Dining Out
By LadyLively on September 18, 2017
If you have food allergies and plan to eat out, it’s important to remember that the beverages you drink may also be a source of the sniffles or more serious reactions.
The American Academy of Food Allergy Asthma & Immunology offers these suggestions:
- Do not share beverages with others, since they may have eaten a food to which you’re allergic.
- Make sure the bar uses clean utensils and appliances to prepare your drink.
- Ask about all ingredients that are added to your drink.
- Be conscious of sulfides that may be included in your drink. These preservatives can trigger allergic and asthmatic reactions. Sulfides may be found in beer, wine, ciders and mixed drinks.
