The pain and stiffness of arthritis, America’s leading cause of disability, can be a real pain in the foot.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons suggests these non-surgical options for foot arthritis:
- Take anti-inflammatory medication to ease swelling and pain.
- Use arch supports, pads or shoe inserts.
- Use custom-made shoes.
- Use a cane or brace.
- Get exercise, including physical therapy.
- Lose any excess weight.
