Health Tip: Eat Wisely During Cancer Treatment
By LadyLively on February 11, 2016
People being treated for cancer often have a weakened immune system, making them more vulnerable to infection. This makes food safety particularly critical.
The foodsafety.gov website suggests:
- When you prepare food, frequently wash your hands and keep kitchen surfaces clean.
- Keep raw meat and poultry separate from ready-to-eat foods.
- Make sure foods are completely cooked to the appropriate internal temperature.
- Within two hours of cooking, refrigerate any leftovers, particularly meat or poultry.
