Health Tip: Injuring a Hamstring
By LadyLively on July 30, 2015

Hamstring injuries, most often affecting sprinters and others who run, can be painful and take a long time to heal.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says risk factors for hamstring injury include:
- Having tight muscles that aren’t properly stretched.
- Having a muscle imbalance, for example, the quadriceps being stronger than the hamstrings, leading to faster fatigue of the hamstrings.
- Having weak, poorly conditioned muscles.
- Being a dancer, sprinter, runner, athlete, a child or teen, or an elderly person.
