Germs are everywhere, and there’s no getting around them. So what can you do to avoid getting sick?
Frequent hand washing is an excellent start, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.
The CDC says you should always wash your hands:
- Before, during and after preparing food.
- Before eating food.
- Before and after caring for someone who is sick.
- After using the bathroom, changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the bathroom.
- After blowing your nose, sneezing or coughing.
- After touching an animal or handling animal waste, an animal’s cage or animal food.
- After touching garbage.
- If you have visibly dirty hands.
