New Cigarette Heats Tobacco Instead of Burning It
A cigarette that heats, rather than burns, tobacco is being introduced in the United States by Reynolds American, the nation’s second largest tobacco company.
Revo cigarettes use a carbon tip that heats tobacco after being lit. Sales will begin in Wisconsin in February, the Associated Press reported.
Unlike electronic cigarettes that use liquid nicotine, Revo contains real tobacco, which could make them more attractive to smokers, according to J. Brice O’Brien, head of consumer marketing at Reynolds.
The company is seeking to take advantage of a growing market for alternatives to traditional cigarettes, the AP reported.
