Health Tip: Early Signs of Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium that may be acquired from the bite of an infected tick. Left untreated, the infection can spread throughout the body and cause serious complications, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Symptoms typically emerge three days to 30 days after a tick bite, and may include:
- A rash with a “bull’s-eye” appearance.
- Swollen lymph nodes.
- Fever and chills.
- Headache.
- Fatigue.
- Aches and pains.
