Health Tip: Supporting a Child Who Struggles With Anxiety
By LadyLively on February 26, 2016
Parents can provide lots of comfort and reassurance to a fearful child.
The Anxiety and Depression Association of America advises:
- Acknowledge your child’s feelings. When he or she begins feeling anxious, remain calm.
- Offer praise and recognition for your child’s accomplishments. If your child is struggling to progress or makes mistakes, don’t punish the child.
- During a time that is stressful, adjust your expectations accordingly.
- Prepare for difficult situations, such as leaving for school in the morning.
