Health Tip: Keeping Your Child Safe in a Car Seat

The correct car seat can protect your child in an accident, so make sure you’re using the right seat for your child.

The Safercar.gov website mentions the best seats by a child’s age:

  • Babies from birth to 12 months should always ride in a rear-facing infant seat.
  • Children aged 1 to 3 should ride in a rear-facing seat according to the height and weight requirements specified by the manufacturer.
  • Children aged 4 to 7 should ride in a harnessed, forward-facing seat.
  • Children aged 8 to 12 should ride in a back-seat booster device until they exceed the seat’s height and weight requirements.
