Health Tip: Keep Kids’ Sleep Schedules Consistent
By LadyLively on January 1, 2016
Special occasions are an exciting time for children, and it can be tempting to let them stay up late. But that can lead to grumpy kids and unhappy parents.
The National Sleep Foundation suggests:
- Kids may not be able to handle staying up significantly past the usual bedtime.
- If it’s important that children attend a family gathering, ask the host if it’s OK to bump up the start time a bit to accommodate younger family members.
- If traveling away from home, bring a blanket, pillow or stuffed animal that will help your child sleep.
- Set the stage for bed by allowing time to dim the lights, read a book, quiet down and relax.
