A painful thumb may be more than an inconvenience — it may signal a fracture that needs a doctor’s care.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons says symptoms of a fractured thumb may include:
- Significant pain or tenderness.
- Coldness or numbness.
- Swelling of the thumb.
- Difficulty or inability to move the thumb.
- A thumb that appears misshapen.
