By on December 17, 2015

A baby’s vision matures during the infant’s first year.

Here’s what you can expect, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics:

  • Bright colors, large shapes and faces are visible to newborns.
  • Babies between 3 and 4 months old can see colors (particularly red and green) and begin to focus on smaller things.
  • By the time baby is 4 months old, the eyes are working together and allow the infant to develop depth perception.
  • By baby’s first birthday, the average infant can see as well as the average adult.
