High-intensity interval training (HIIT) combines short periods of intense exercise with recovery periods.
The American Council on Exercise says benefits of HIIT workouts include:
- Improved aerobic and anaerobic fitness.
- Improved insulin sensitivity and fasting glucose.
- Decrease in belly fat and subcutaneous fat just under the skin.
- Improved cardiovascular function.
