High intensity interval training involves cardiovascular exercise in short intervals at high intensity.

The American Council on Exercise says benefits may include:

  • Improved anaerobic and aerobic fitness.
  • Increased sensitivity to insulin, and decreased fasting insulin.
  • Reductions in belly fat and fat deposits just beneath the skin.
  • Improvements in fitness with less time commitment.
