Health Tip: Recovering From a Run
By LadyLively on March 2, 2015
To help your body recover after a tough run, it’s important to refuel with the right nutrients and plenty of fluids.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics suggests:
- Weigh yourself before and after a run to see how much fluid you’ve lost.
- Drink 1 1/2 times the amount of fluid lost on a run.
- Within 30 minutes of finishing your run, eat a high-carbohydrate, nutritious snack.
- Fruit and vegetable drinks, sports drinks, chocolate milk and smoothies are great ways to rehydrate and refuel after a run.
