Health Tip: Screening for Hearing Loss

A hearing test is appropriate at any age, especially if you feel you’re not hearing as well as you should.

The American Speech-Language Hearing Association suggests hearing screenings for:

  • Newborns, who are generally screened at the hospital before discharge, and young children who are typically screened at school.
  • Adults, who should be screened at least once per decade until age 50. Thereafter, they should be screened every three years.
  • People who failed a prior hearing test, who should then see an audiologist for a complete hearing evaluation.
